
Our Story
Hi, I’m Sammie. The Nourished Patient grew out of my own experience recovering from oral surgery while working full-time, caring for a toddler, and trying to stay on top of nutrition and rest. Even with a supportive partner at home, it was exhausting and overwhelming.
That experience opened my eyes to how little guidance patients receive around nutrition during recovery — even though it plays a crucial role in healing. I wanted to create something that would take away the stress and guesswork, and instead make patients feel cared for, nourished, and supported.
The Nourished Patient is my way of reimagining post-operative recovery through thoughtful, nutrient-rich meals that do more than just get you by — they help your body heal. My hope is that our meals bring you comfort, strength, and a little more ease during this part of your journey ♡
About the Service
At The Nourished Patient, recovery nutrition is more than meals—it’s a carefully designed system that adapts to your body’s changing needs as you heal. Every stage of recovery is supported with intention, from the moment you come home from surgery through the final weeks when your body is regaining strength.
Surgery Day is treated as its own chapter. We start with tonics designed to help the body gently detoxify from anesthesia and surgical stress while providing soothing hydration. In the first week, meals are light, low in sodium to prevent swelling, and focused on easy digestion. We prepare ingredients through steaming wherever possible, preserving nutrients and creating textures that are gentle on the body.
As recovery progresses, the meals evolve. By Week 2, adaptogens and more complex nutrient layers are introduced to support deeper healing. By Week 6, meals look and taste very different from the beginning—reflecting the natural arc of recovery while staying within your texture and nutrition needs.
